Patna, a big opportunity of government job is going to come out for the unemployed youth of Bihar. 45 thousand health workers will be reinstated in the state health department in this financial year. It includes a dozen posts including doctors, nurses, pharmacists and lab technicians. The process of reinstatement will start from October 2024. The Health Department had earlier sought vacancies by clearing the roster of various posts from the districts on the basis of 65 percent reservation. But after the Patna High Court's stay on the increased reservation, the department has again decided to reinstate on the basis of old provisions. A target has been set to complete this recruitment process in the next 6 months.

The Health Department has also started getting vacancies by clearing the roster on the basis of 50 percent reservation from the districts for some posts. It is expected that the vacancies of almost all the posts will be available with the roster by next month. Also, the vacancies will be sent to the General Administration Department. After this, information will be sent to various commissions including the Technical Services Commission. The commission will give eligible candidates a chance to apply for about a month. After completing the selection process, the health department will get the recommendation of eligible candidates from the commission.

In fact, Health Minister Mangal Pandey had reviewed the vacancies on various posts in the department with departmental officials in June. The minister had instructed the officials to complete the appointment on all the vacant posts including doctors and nurses in mission mode. Recently, 770 posts of dentists have been approved. Two days ago, Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena also instructed the health department officials to fill all the vacant posts.

Recruitment is getting delayed due to reservation problem
The health department had set a target of completing the recruitment on all 45 thousand posts by the end of October, but due to the reservation problem, the recruitment process is getting delayed. The department has expedited the process for appointment on vacant posts related to the health department including doctors, dentists, nurses, ANMs, GNMs, CHOs and paramedical.

Nurses are to be appointed on the highest number of about 21 thousand posts. 1339 assistant professors will be appointed under the Health Department and National Health Mission. 3523 specialist medical officers and 396 general medical officers will be appointed. 1290 general medical officers will also be appointed on contract basis.
