Katni, Katni Madhavnagar police got a big success in arresting accused Sonu Yadav who was absconding for 7 years. On 01/08/17, informant Ramlakhan Pandey informed the police post Jhinjhari that security guard Gulshan Jogi was lying soaked in blood in MPEB store located on Bilhari Road Jhinjhari and he died. This was a murder and police had already arrested 6 accused and Madhavnagar police was searching for the seventh accused for the last 7 years, finally the police arrested the seventh accused as well.

Katni SP Abhijeet Ranjan said that on 01/08/17, on the information of the deceased, the case was registered, the crime scene was inspected, Panchnama proceedings were done and the postmortem of the dead body of deceased Gultara Jogi was done. In the postmortem report, the doctor wrote that the deceased died due to head and other injuries. On inspection of the spot, body panchanama, postmortem report and witness statements, it was found that deceased Gulshan was murdered. Crime was registered against unknown persons in the case and investigation was done. Information about the reasons of murder was collected from various angles and with the help of technical assistance, the above suspects 1. Raja alias Imtiaz Ali 2. Javed Khan were searched and taken into custody and questioned. On interrogation, they told that with the intention of stealing from Capcan Company's store located in Jhinjhri, Raja alias Imtiaz Ali, Subhash, Pankaj, Sonu Yadav, Sukaru did recce of the place of theft and arranged labour from Badwara to lift the stolen goods and brought them to Katni. Accused Mohd. Afroz and Javed Khan, both residents of Jabalpur, arranged a truck to carry the stolen goods and Javed came to Katni with the truck and Afroz came to Katni in his car. All the seven accused went to Campcon's office in Jhinjhari in the said car and motorcycle to commit theft. When the watchman Gulshan Jogi resisted, the accused killed him and stole various electrical equipment worth about Rs. 1.30 lakh and fled away in the car. The police promptly arrested the accused, namely 1. Mohd. Afroz, 2. Javed Khan, 3. Raja alias Imtiaz Ali, 4. Pankaj Razak, 5. Subhash Yadav, 6. Sukru alias Sukruhdin, 7. Sonu Yadav. Out of which 6 accused were promptly arrested. But the seventh accused in the case, Sonu Yadav, son of Premlal Yadav, age 20 years, resident of Badwara police station, Badwara, had absconded since the date of the incident. Every possible effort was being made to arrest him, but the absconding accused Sonu Yadav was continuously absconding in the case. Superintendent of Police Abhijeet Ranjan had given instructions to solve the pending crimes, in compliance of which the police station in-charge took it seriously and contacted the then investigating officer, police station in-charge Badwara Kishore Divedi and after collecting the necessary information, a team was formed to search for the absconding accused Sonu Yadav, son of Premlal Yadav, resident of Badwara, with the help of informer networks and technical assistance and was sent to Pune, Maharashtra. Where the accused was searched at every possible place on the basis of his appearance, during that time the accused was confronted and when asked his name and address, he told his name as Sonu Kol. As soon as he came to know that the police is looking for him, he ran away from there without any delay. The police came to know that Sonu Kol is Sonu Yadav. The police who reached the spot were disappointed as soon as the senior officers got the information, they encouraged the team and instructed them to work harder and success will be achieved. After some time, the police again encountered the accused but Sonu Yadav ran away after seeing the police but the Chokanna police chased him for 200 meters jumping over the fencing wires and finally succeeded in catching the accused after a lot of hard work.
