On Friday, Shivratri, the festival of union of Shiva and Shakti, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and gaiety by Shiva devotees in the city. On this occasion, there was a queue of devotees at all the major Shiva temples of the city till late evening. Religious ceremonies like Abhishek, Maha Aarti etc. had started in the Shiva temples since morning. Devotees anointed the ghostly Lord Bholnath with milk and at some places offered Bhang Dhatura along with Panch dry fruits. On the occasion of Shivratri, various events were organized in all the Shiva temples of the city. At some places, a store of Fariyali Khichdi was organized and at some places, Prasad made of Bhang along with dry fruits was distributed and this round, which started in the morning, did not stop till late night. A large crowd of devotees was seen in Omkareshwar Mahadev Temple of the city, Mangalnath Mahadev Temple, Nityanand Ashram, Mahadev Temple located in Lalpura, Jai Jaleshwar Mahadev Temple of Water Works. At the same time, a large number of people reached the Mahadev temples of Nainavad and Sunera and the situation here was such that there was no space left even to step foot and police personnel had to be deployed here for the arrangements and from morning till evening devotees came for their darshan through buses. On the occasion of Shivratri, the devotees who visited Shiva by setting up pandals at various places also enjoyed the Bhandara. Benefit was taken by the committee members by distributing Khichdi and Faryali Baba Prasad to the devotees. Bhandara of Khinchadi was organized by Satya Sai Seva Samiti at Mahakal Temple located in village Nainavad, about 9 km from the district headquarters. Milk sherbet was also distributed by the committee of village Nainavad, which was availed by thousands of devotees.

Although Mahashivratri festival was celebrated with enthusiasm in the entire district, but the Shiva marriage held at Mahadev Temple located in Lalpura of the city became a topic of discussion in the entire city.
