He said that he himself is from a farmer family. He described the award of Bharat Ratna to Chaudhary Charan Singh as a show of respect towards the farmers and said that the farmers of Western Uttar Pradesh are very hardworking. Later, Raghav Lakhanpal, like his father, became an MLA and MP. He has great affection for this family and the people of Saharanpur.
