Ten children died in a sudden fire in the NICU of the pediatric ward in Jhansi Medical College, Uttar Pradesh late on Friday night, while the condition of many children is critical. 35 children have been evacuated safely. District Magistrate Avinash Kumar has confirmed the death of ten children. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the death of children and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. The CM has formed a committee to investigate the incident. The CM has handed over the investigation of the incident to Commissioner Vimal Kumar Dubey and DIG Kalanidhi Naithani and said that its report should be submitted within 12 hours. A team of doctors from Kanpur has also reached the spot.

On Friday night at around 11 o'clock, suddenly people started running out of the gynecology department of the medical college, picking up their newborns from the beds with screams. The incident caused a stampede there. Pregnant women were also rushed by their relatives. On receiving the information, police and district administration along with police and fire brigade vehicles reached the spot.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep condolences on the Jhansi Medical College accident that took place on Friday night. Distressed by the death of newborn babies due to fire, the Prime Minister prayed to God to give strength to the bereaved families to bear the grief.

At the same time, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the accident that took place in Jhansi Medical College. The Chief Minister expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased children. The Chief Minister has immediately sent the injured to the hospital and directed the district administration officials to provide them proper treatment.
