Merta Road, CBI team reached Merta Road on Monday in the case of embezzlement of Rs 72 lakh 36 thousand 44 in Merta Road Post Office. In this regard, the Postal Superintendent Nagaur had registered a case against Sub Postmaster Mehruddin in Jodhpur CBI. The CBI team investigated the matter along with questioning the victim account holders. According to the information, Sub Postmaster Mehruddin of 27 account holders in Merta Road Post Office embezzled 62 lakh 22 thousand 44 from 2 August 2022 to 19 April 2024 and temporarily misappropriated 10 lakh 14 thousand. A total embezzlement of 72 lakh 36 thousand 44 was revealed. The accused had entered the amount deposited and withdrawn by the account holders in the passbook but did not mention the amount in the account of the account holder. The sub-postmaster had prepared a fake withdrawal form and embezzled the amount. After the matter came to light in the month of May, the investigation also revealed that when the account holders went to the post office for payment, the suspicious public servant sub-postmaster had increased the deposit amount by adding the interest amount. In this way, sub-postmaster Mehruddin kept misusing the government money temporarily. In this regard, a case was registered in Jodhpur CBI by Postal Superintendent Nagaur Ram Avatar Soni. CBI has registered the case and handed over the investigation to Inspector Madanlal Beniwal. Today, the CBI team reached Merta Road under the leadership of Jodhpur ACB Branch Inspector Madanlal Beniwal in the case of scam of lakhs of rupees committed by the Sub Postmaster in Merta Road Post Office. This CBI team will interrogate 26 consumers in these days and collect evidence against the accused Sub Postmaster Mehruddin. Let us tell you that Nagaur Post Office Superintendent Ram Avtar Soni had lodged a case in Jodhpur CBI against subordinate employee Merta Road Sub Postmaster Mehruddin. More than Rs 70 lakh was embezzled from the savings accounts of more than 21 account holders in Merta Road Post Office.
