There will be no carbon dating of 'Shivling' found in Gyanvapi
Court rejects the petition of Hindu side in Gyanvapi case
Varanasi, The hopes of the Hindu parties seeking a carbon dating probe into the alleged Shivling found in the Gyanvapi complex in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, have received a major setback from the district court. In the Gyanvapi-Sringar Gauri case, the court dismissed the petition of the Hindu side seeking carbon dating of the alleged Shivling and said that the carbon dating of the alleged Shivling will not be investigated. In its decision, the court said that where the alleged Shivling was found, it should be kept safe. Let us tell you that on October 11, the court had reserved the decision till October 14.
Let's know the special things of Varanasi Court's decision on Gyanvapi
- The Hindu parties demanding a carbon dating investigation of the alleged Shivling found in the Gyanvapi complex have suffered a major setback. The district court dismissed the petition of the Hindu parties and ruled that there would be no carbon dating of the alleged Shivling.
- The judge said that he does not want the alleged Shivling to be insulted, therefore rejects carbon dating.
What is the full order of the court
The Hon'ble Supreme Court has directed in the order of the present case that the alleged Shivalingam found during the proceedings of the Advocate Commissioner should be kept safe. In such a situation, if the said Shivling is damaged by using carbon dating technology or using ground penetrating radar, then it will be a violation of the order dated 17.05.2022 of the Hon'ble Supreme Court. Apart from this, religious sentiments of the general public can also get hurt if this happens. I am also of the view that during the proceedings of the Advocate Commissioner at this stage it would not be appropriate to direct the Archaeological Survey of India to determine the age, nature and structure of the said Shivling found on 16.05. There does not appear to be any possibility of an equitable settlement of the questions involved later on.'
Varanasi District Judge Dr. Ajay Krishna Vishwesh pronounced this decision in the presence of 58 people in the court room at around 2.30 pm.
In view of the decision on the Gyanvapi case, elaborate security arrangements have been made in the court premises.
The so-called Shivling is present inside the Gyanvapi Mosque adjacent to the Kashi Vishwanath temple, which the Muslim side calls the fountain of eating Wuzu, while the Hindu side Shivling. On the issue of carbon dating of this, the judge in the Varanasi district court ruled.
what happened in the last hearing
According to District Government Advocate Mahendra Pratap Pandey, on October 7, the Hindu side presented its explanation regarding the carbon dating and scientific test of the alleged Shivling found in the Gyanvapi campus, claiming that the Shivling found in the Vazukhana is part of their suit. On the clarification of the Hindu side, the advocates of the Muslim side have submitted their reply.
At the same time, Mumtaz Ahmed, the advocate for the Muslim side, had told that he has told the court that the carbon dating of the figure found in the premises cannot be done. “Secondly, the Hindu side is talking about sabotage, which can destroy the figure. Whereas the Supreme Court has ordered to preserve it. If the figure is vandalized in the name of carbon dating, then it will be in defiance of the order of the Supreme Court.
what is this matter
It is worth noting that during the videography survey of Gyanvapi complex conducted on the orders of Civil Judge Senior Division last May, a long and round stone was found in the Vazukhana of Gyanvapi Masjid. The Hindu side claims that it is a Shivling, while the Masjid Arrangement Committee says that it is not a Shivling but a part of the fountain. He argues that there are many other such mosques and other buildings built during the Mughal period, which have similar fountains in the Vazukhana.
Hindu side has demanded carbon dating investigation
However, the Hindu side had demanded the district court to conduct a carbon dating test of the alleged Shivling, so that it can be ascertained how old the stone is. At present, adequate security arrangements have been made in the court premises before the decision on Gyanvapi. The administration has deployed a large number of police forces. In the Gyanvapi case, there are three main demands of the Hindu side - 1. Right to worship, 2. Muslims should not get entry and 3. The entire premises should be handed over to Hindus.
