Katni, Katni police has solved the murder case by throwing stones in the Rethi police station area of ​​Katni district in 72 hours. This murder was committed due to a minor dispute and the deceased was killed by his father-in-law and brother-in-law by throwing stones.

Katni district SP Abhijit Ranjan said that on receiving the information about the body of an unknown deceased being found near Hanuman Talaiya garbage dump, the station in-charge of Rethi immediately reached the spot with his staff and started investigating the incident, where the body of the deceased was found lying against the wall of the garbage dump, which prima facie appeared to be a murder by an unknown person by throwing a heavy stone on his head. A blood-stained stone was also found lying near the deceased. To identify the deceased, social media and police personnel themselves went to nearby villages and mohallas and enquired. Meanwhile, Puran Bhumiya, resident of Sighaiya Mohalla Kariya Pathar, also came to the spot with other people and family members and identified the deceased as his son-in-law Surendra Bhumiya, age 35 years, resident of village Jijnaudi, police station Vijayraghavgarh, district Katni, who had come to his in-laws' place Singhaiya Tola on the 13th to watch Dussehra, Ramleela, Rai program of Rethi with his wife and children. On identification of the deceased, on the report of the deceased's father-in-law Puran Bhumiya, father Sukaru Bhumiya, age 55 years, resident of Singhadya Kariyapathar Rethi, a case was registered at the spot and FSL, sniffer dog and figure print teams were called on the spot, the incident spot was inspected closely and in their presence, after the Panchnama proceedings, the post-mortem was conducted in which the doctor said that the deceased died due to a traumatic injury in the head. Rethi police registered a case against the unknown accused and took it into investigation. During the investigation of the case, the behavior of the deceased's father-in-law Puran Bhumiya and brother-in-law Sunil Bhumiya was found to be abnormal and suspicious from the time of identifying the dead body. They were taken into custody by the team on the basis of suspicion and were thoroughly interrogated. They tried to mislead the police from the very beginning, but intensive interrogation was done on the basis of facts and circumstances, on which both the father and son told that on the intervening night of 13-14 October 2024, a feast of liquor and chicken was organized in their house, in which many other relatives were also present in Sunil's house, during the dinner itself, there was a dispute and fight between the deceased Surendra Bhumiya and the only brother-in-law Sunil Bhumiya over some matter, in which Surendra Bhugiya abused Sunil several times, Sunil felt very insulted and made a plan to kill the deceased Surendra with his father Puran Bhumiya, as per the plan, all three came to Rethi Bazar again at around 2 o'clock in the night on the pretext of watching Dussehra procession and Ramleela, during the same time, both the brothers-in-law and father-in-law took Surendra to a deserted and dark place behind the garbage house located near Hanuman Talaiya, where Sunil, getting the opportunity, shot dead a dead body lying nearby. He picked up a heavy stone and slammed it twice on the head of deceased Surendra, due to which Surendra died on the spot. After verifying this, the accused were taken into custody and during interrogation they confessed to committing the crime and their blood stained clothes which they were wearing at the time of the incident were confiscated from their house on a memorandum.
