ICC selected ODI team of the year - 3 from Pakistan
While no player was selected from India
New Delhi, International Cricket Council (ICC) has selected the ODI team of the year on the basis of the performance of the players in the ODI format last year. 11 players from all over the world have got a place in this team. Fans are surprised to see this team because no face from strong teams like India, Australia, South Africa and England has been able to make it to this team. In this team, the maximum number of 4 players have made it to the team from Sri Lanka, while 3-3 players have been made from Pakistan and Afghanistan. Apart from this, there is only one player from West Indies.
Actually, ICC has selected this team from the players who performed well in the ODI format throughout the year. No player from big teams like India, England and Australia could make it to this team because these teams did not play many ODI matches last year due to T20 World Cup.
India played only one ODI series last year. India lost 0-2 in this 3-match series. Similarly, England, South Africa and Australia also played one or two ODI series, due to which their players could not get a place.
Sri Lankan batsman Charith Aslanka has been given the responsibility of captain in this team, while Kusal Mendis has been selected as wicketkeeper batsman. Pakistan's Sam Ayub and Afghanistan's Rahmanullah Gurbaz have been given the responsibility of opening in the team. ICC ODI Team of the Year
