Honey Singh accused of not paying tax
Indore Municipal Corporation confiscated goods worth Rs 1 crore from Honey Singh's concert
Famous singer Honey Singh's concert in Indore is in controversy. First he was asked to deposit Rs 50 lakh as entertainment tax, later the police gave permission to hold the event only after taking Rs 8 lakh. Honey Singh's concert took place, but the mayor of Indore is very angry with the police officers. For this, he will also complain on the appropriate platform. Municipal Corporation Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava said in a strict tone to the police administration that the organizers had not taken the necessary permissions for the Honey Singh show, then how did the event take place. The responsible people should have stopped the event, but they have been negligent. The mayor said that I had written a letter saying that permission for the event should not be given until the corporation gets the entertainment tax. Still the police officers gave permission. This is not right. For this irresponsible act of the police officers, we will complain about them on the appropriate platform.
What is the whole matter?
Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava had asked the organizers of Honey Singh's show to deposit Rs 50 lakh as entertainment tax. Due to this, Additional Commissioner Lata Agarwal had also issued a notice, but the organizers deposited about eight lakh rupees and washed their hands off the matter. After this, when the corporation was criticized, on the instructions of the Additional Commissioner, the removal staff of the corporation seized the container full of the sound system of the Honey Singh show. It is said that there is material worth about one crore in this container. Now if the organizers want the material, then they should deposit Rs 50 lakh as entertainment tax. In this way, there is a rift between Honey Singh and the corporation. The corporation officers have also made entertainment tax a matter of their prestige.
The program ended in just one and a half hours
Honey Singh's program started on time and the singer sang his ten famous songs and ended the show in just one and a half hours and left. Due to this, the corporation did not get Rs 50 lakh as entertainment tax and the audience also got angry at the program ending soon. It is to be noted that the Municipal Corporation Mayor had said that permission for the program would be given only after the entertainment tax was deposited. A letter was also written to the Police Commissioner for this, but permission for the event was already taken from the police and administration. However, the Municipal Corporation issued a notice to the organizers of Honey Singh's concert to deposit the entertainment tax. The Municipal Corporation informed through the GST portal that tickets worth more than Rs 3 crore 28 lakh have been sold for this program. It was said that it is necessary to deposit 10 percent entertainment tax of this amount in advance.
Flaw in intention - Mayor
Mayor Pushy Mitra Bhargava said that there is a flaw in the intention of the organizers. He had requested the organizers to give a post-dated cheque, but the organizers refused it saying that they do not travel with cheques. When Honey Singh's program ended in one and a half hours, Municipal Corporation Deputy Commissioner Lata Agarwal clarified that the Municipal Corporation has no role in ending the show. She said that it is wrong to say that the show was stopped due to non-payment of tax. Tax of 7 lakh 85 thousand rupees was already deposited for this event, but the tax demand of 50 lakh rupees is still pending.
Controversy happened earlier too -
The organizers of Diljit Dosanjh's program in the city did the program after giving assurance of paying entertainment tax and then disappeared. Due to this, the corporation had to file an FIR. Due to this, this time before Honey Singh's show, a notice was given to the organizer TV Today Network Limited to deposit 10 percent entertainment tax on the basis of ticket sales. Due to this, it deposited tax of 7 lakh 85 thousand rupees. The corporation called it insufficient and wrote a letter to the organizers and instructed them to deposit tax of 50 lakh rupees.
