According to India Today report, in an interview given to a YouTube channel last year, Atul had told that doctors had found a 5 cm tumor in his liver last year.
Atul was suffering from cancer
The actor had said last year, 'I had completed 25 years of my marriage. When we went to Australia and New Zealand, I was fine. But after a few days, I was not able to eat anything. I knew something was wrong. My brother later gave me some medicines, but they did not help me. After visiting many doctors, I was asked to get an ultrasonography done. When the doctor did this, I saw fear in his eyes and I felt something was wrong. I was told that there was a tumor of about 5 cm long in my liver and it was cancer. I asked him if I would be fine or not, he said, 'Yes you will be fine.'
He was troubled by wrong treatment
Atul had told at that time that he was given wrong treatment and after this his health kept deteriorating. He said, 'After the investigation, my first treatment went wrong. My pancreas was affected and I started having problems. Wrong treatment had worsened the condition. I was not even able to walk. I used to start stumbling while talking. In such a situation, the doctor asked me to wait for one and a half months. They said that if they did the surgery, I would have jaundice for years and my liver would get filled with water or I would not survive. Later I changed doctors and took proper medication and chemotherapy.'
He was admitted to the hospital 5 days ago
Marathi actor Jaywant Wadkar has reacted to Atul's death. He knew Atul since they were children. The actor told 'ABP Mazha' that Atul was going to be seen in the Marathi play 'Suryachi Pillai'. They were rehearsing together, but Atul was admitted to the hospital five days ago.
